Have you been diagnosed with depression?
Are you between the ages of 55 and 80?

If you are in good physical health, you may be eligible to participate in this study examining the relationship between blood pressure and mood. We are looking at how depression affects areas of the brain involved in blood pressure and heart rate, as well as the emotional response to different words.

This trial will require two sessions lasting two to three hours each. On the first day, there will be baseline measurements including blood pressure, heart rate, height and weight, and a blood sample taken. You will be asked to perform a few tasks involving your grip strength and your emotional response to words on a computer. On the second day, similar measurements will be taken and you will be asked to perform the same tasks while lying in an MRI machine.

What will I gain?
You will likely receive no personal benefit from this study but the results will hopefully help doctors and scientists better understand depression and its relationship with brain areas involved in cardiovascular function.
If interested, please contact Dr. A. Vasudev @ (519) 667-6693, choose Option 7.
