University of Toronto 1948/50

I was a Physiology Ph.D. candidate in the Biophysics laboratory of Donald Solandt, but when he became ill I was transferred to McGill University for research sponsored by Arnold Burgen.
Bernice Grafstein, as an undergrad, and Bruce Hendrick, as a Gallie scholar, were also in the Solandt lab for a summer.
The Toronto degree for the McGill work was conferred in 1952.

Bruce Hendrick as chief pediatric neurosurgeon
In Don Solandt's lab I was looking for a nerve-muscle preparation in which I could see individual endplates to apply acetylcholine. Bruce pointed me to the serratus muscle of the guinea pig, and Bernice did silver stains to shows the patterns. This yielded ref. 2 that was used in ref. 6.

Here I learned more neurophysiology and became Assistant Professor after completion of work (ref. 5 in Research papers) supervised by Arnold Burgen, and also tutored by Ben Burns.
