I am from Southwestern Nigeria where we take pride in farming. My grandfather was a farmer with many hectarages of farmland. Also, my father taught high school students agricultural science for over 35 years. “We can say agric runs in the family”. I had Bachelor and Master degrees in Agriculture with specialization in agricultural entomology from Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta Nigeria, 2005 and 2010 respectively. I worked as a Research Fellow (Entomologist) at the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, Obafemi Awolowo University Ibadan Nigeria for 2 years before my relocation to Canada.  I relocated to Canada with my family in 2016. I had another MSc degree in environmental science with a focus on the exploration of native microbial consortium for biodegradation of Plastic in compost using metagenomics techniques at Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia under the supervision of Dr. Lord Abbey and Dr. Svetlana Yurgel. In 2018,  I read about Brent and his lab, I was fascinated by the kind of research been done in the lab I want to know more and be part of this great lab, so I decided to join the lab for my Ph.D. My Ph. D research will be on cold tolerance of Colorado potato beetle a major insect pest of potato causing a lot of crop and revenue lost for potato’s farmers.
