Use ping at the Command (MS-DOS) prompt in Windows
to determine availability of at least three hosts
outside North America
that respond to pinging
(many do not).
(Use a geolocation service on the host's IP number
to ensure it is, in fact, outside North America.)
Note the time required for a packet to travel
from your location to the remote host.
Experiment with different packet sizes
(tens of bytes to several thousands of bytes).
