- Preferably
wooden shelves. Metal shelves are seen by many as acceptable, however some
experts recommend that they be grounded
- Always
store them vertically (not horizontally)
- Storing
tapes "tail-out" after having been played minimizes the effects of
"print-through" and improves the chances of long-term survival.
- Beware
of exposure to magnetic fields (from
televisions, stereo speakers, magnets, vacuum cleaners, etc.) as this
can cause data loss.
