  • Primary Sources
    • one created by a witness to or the first recorder of an event, often a participant. Usually (though not always) refers to unpublished materials.
  • Secondary Sources

    • The product of primary sources. In essence, the literature that is the result of archival research, often published as papers, texts and syntheses aimed at a less specialized audience.
