This site is built using Cascading Style Sheets
(CSS) for both formatting and layout in a scalable design.

The site is built using HTML and was created using the software Dreamweaver CS4.

Purpose of site:

This site was created as a student exercise for the Masters of Library and Information Science (MLIS) course:

LIS 9723-Web Design and Architecture

at the University of Western Ontario.


Stylistics:

font

The default typeface is Courier since it resemble the font from a typewriter, which is an apt font for a website about a writer.

images

The images have been “borrowed” from the Web for purposes of this educational exercise.

colour

The colour scheme is an analogous or softer palette, chosen thusly to highlight the whimsical nature of Vonnegut’s style.  Vonnegut’s own drawings have been adapted to be used as bullet point symbols throughout the site as well.

layouts

The layouts are rather simple and emphasize the text of/about Vonnegut’s novels with an accompanying picture to break up the visual monotony of the text. In addition there are numerous pages in this site to help users read the text more easily; thus reducing the need to scroll down.
