I am a professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Western Ontario and currently the acting director. I received my BScN from McGill University in 1977, MScN from the University of Western Ontario in 1986, and EdD in Adult Education in 1996 from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. My doctoral thesis focused on facilitating reflection in online learning. I adopted online learning in the early 90's and have been using computer-conferencing as a medium in most of my courses since that time. I have also facilitated faculty development workshops on various aspects of online learning.

I have taught at the diploma, baccalaureate. and graduate levels. My research focuses is on nursing education, particularly distance education, teaching, learning, and evaluation.

In January 2005 I co-authored a book entitled Curriculum Development in Nursing Education with Drs. Iwasiw and Goldenberg. It is published by Jones and Bartlett. I am also a founding editor of the Journal of Nursing Education Scholarship.
