Places lived in/served in during my military career:

Served in Canada from coast to coast to coast (well, Hudson Bay!).

1933 - 1937: Esquimalt, BC. Home on base with parents (Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps)

1939 - 1944: Petawawa Military Camp, ON. Home in camp when father responsible for maintenance of Ammunition Depot.

While serving with the Royal Canadian Army Cadets and the Lanark and Renfrew Scottish Regiment spent part of the Summers of 1941, 1942 and 1943 training at Connaught Ranges, South March, ON.

Jun - Jul 1944: Based in No. 60 Canadian Infantry (Basic) Training Centre, Yarmouth, NS. Aug 1944 - Apr 1946: Trained then instructed at A-14 Canadian Infantry Training Centre, Camp Aldershot, NS. On closing of A-14 CITC I was posted to The Royal Canadian Regiment then based in Brockville, ON, at the former Officer Training Centre.

Summer 1947: Training with the Canadian Officers Training Corps at the Royal Canadian School of Military Engineering in Chilliwack, BC.

1948 - 1950: Currie Barracks, Calgary, AB, with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry. Parachute and glider loading training in Rivers, MB. Summer and winter exercises in Camp Wainwright, AB. Participated in joint Cdn/US Exercise "Sweetbriar" in Whitehorse, YT; parachuted into Northway Air Base in Alaska. Returned to Calgary via the Alaska Highway. Flood fighting operations in Winnipeg, MB.

1950 - 1954: While attending The University of Western Ontario was on the roster of Wolseley Barracks, London, ON, for pay and administration. Summer training with the COTC in 1951 (The Citadel, Quebec, PQ, and Camp Valcartier, PQ), and 1952 (School of Infantry, Camp Borden and Camp Meaford, ON).

During Summer of 1953 led a PPCLI recruiting team of 30 soldiers plus cooks and drivers through Central BC putting on tactical, etc., demonstrations in Hope, Princeton, Penticton, Trail, Nelson, Vernon, Revelstoke, and Kamloops.

Fall 1954: Young Officers and Small Arms Courses at School of Infantry, Camp Borden, ON.

Spring 1955, while serving as Assistant Adjutant, 1PPCLI, in Calgary, led burial party at Workpoint Barracks, Esquimalt, BC, for one of our soldiers killed during an airborne exercise.

1955 - 1959: In Ottawa seconded to Joint Intelligence Bureau at National Defence Headquarters on Elgin St.

Winter, 1956: Attended an Arctic Familiarization Course in Churchill, MB.

Summer, 1957: Attended a Subalterns Tactics Course at Royal Military College, Kingston, ON.

Mar 1984: Invited to serve as Reviewing Officer at the graduation exercises of the PPCLI Battle School in Camp Wainwright, AB. My son, David, was a member of the graduating France and Flanders Platoon.
