Angelica Cornacchio

Angelica is originally from the beautiful (but very small) city of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. In September 2001, she moved to London to pursue an exciting degree in Chemistry at UWO. At first, Angelica was afraid to move to the "big" city all alone ... until she realized that all of the Soo had also moved to London. So much for getting away from the people you went to high school with! Jokes.

In May 2004, Angelica participated in the Reactive Intermediate Student Exchange (RISE) program where she accepted a summer research position in the chemistry department at the University of Montreal in Montreal, Quebec. (No Soo people there ... tear.) Under the supervision of Professor Christian Reber and his group, she studied two-electron transitions in Ni(II) complexes.

Angelica has recently graduated with a four-year honors degree in Chemistry and in September, she will begin her Master's degree. In her spare time, Angelica enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the show, and meeting new people (who sometimes end up also being from the Soo ... yikes!)

Angelica is an Ontario Graduate Scholarship holder. She is making nanoscale fluorophores for biological imaging applications.
