'Date on Line'
The layout of the whole article is very good. It is attractive, the colour, pictures, graphics and the animation
are excellent: I wanted to read the article because of the way it was set out-'The cybernetics of love'.
It is very topical with Valentine’s Day approaching. It is the season of love.
Page 1. Introduction. The page is well set out, the information is sufficient for the title page.
The animated graphics are very good with a table of contents in a frame along the left border. The title 'Date
on Line' is appropriate. Sincere has used the 1996 picture by Randy Glasbergen, http://www:Norwich.net/~randyg/toon.html.
E-mail:g@norwich,to illustrate Cyber-Romeo &Juliet. The table of contents is in a frame on the left
of the page.
The graphics are excellent. Romeo sits besides the bed in which Juliet is sitting. The script says that ‘ Romeo and Juliet met online in a chat room. Their relationship ended tragically when Juliet’s hard drive died'. It is sad but very funny and keeps the reader’s attention. It is a fact of every day life that hard drives do die. This picture provides a good humorous introduction and grabs the reader's attention: most readers would want to read on further as it is an entertaining topic. The different colours of the script make the page easy to read. The pink background has associated hearts: It is very appropriate for February 14.
Page 2. Cyberrelationships is an education in the art of love. Sincere discusses the advantages and disadvantages
of chat rooms: they have opened up the door to cyber-relationships.
Sincere notes that many people are desperate to find the right lover. The web is the answer. The graphic art and
background are excellent: A heart with an arrow through it sealed with two wedding rings, to seal the romance,
are depicted.
The use of italics and large font for the title of the page makes it stand out and easy to read. Readers of all
types will be attracted and will want to read on further. It is short and to the point.
Page 3.Online Dating versus Dating in the Real World. This section is clearly set out. Two methods
of dating are compared. The internet, a communications technology has overcome many obstacles to dating in the
real world. The explanation is good. The font and style are good in this article. Music written by Debussy plays
most of the time. It seems appropriate for the subject and the content of the article because ----“…if music be
the food of love, play on” W. Shakespeare. Two monitors are on the bottom of the page showing Romeo on one screen
and Juliet on the other: they are linked by a heart. Sincere describes the advantages of newer and better technologies.
People can follow their personal relationships easily and overcome some of the difficulties experienced in real
life. Long distances can be overcome by on-line dating: it is entertaining useful and fun.It gives hope to those
who cannot find a mate and is an easy way to find a mate. Online dating has pros and cons. There is little personal
rejection and prejudice. There is no colour bar. Itis easier to meet someone virtually than in the the real world.
The anonymity of persons on the net acts as a confidence booster. The whole process is exciting and their is an
air of anicipation of success.Sincere says that 'the ability to learn to communicate with one's significant other
also provides a strong base on which a relationship can be built.' The page layout is good with paragraphs and
adequate spacing.
Paragraph 4 addresses people who are having difficulty in their relationships and the next section discusses
the rules and regulations of cyberrelationships.. There is a distinct code of ethics which differ from those
of the real world.
Problems: 1. You cannot see who you are dating. You may be dating a young teenager: it may be a joke! Blind trust comes into it. The anonymity allows us to be just what we want to be as exemplified by the last graphics picture on Cybersex. The picture is funny and amazed me. Cybersex is available on the net!
Rules and a code control cyberrelationships. Mistakes are made. Marriages and divorces occur. As you can see I have learned a lot which proves that the article is well written, informativeand should appeal to serious daters, to those who want to be entertained and to the curious like myself.
Sincere has given an excellent and entertaining dissertation for Valentine's Day and at otheer times for virtual dating in general. It is clear, concise and to the point. The essay is well structured and to the point. It is grammatically correct and authoritative.
Sincere cites seven sources which she has used for her work. There are two spellings mistakes which she will correct.
Comment: I found this article very interesting and educational since I have never tried to find a mate on
line. My interest was kept throughoutthework and that is for me the main object of writing: to attract the reader
and keep him or her reading.
