TRACY ISAACS'S OTHER PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES


Centre for Women's Studies and Feminist Research

In 2003-04 I was Acting Director of the Centre for Women's Studies and Feminist Research. I remain involved with the Centre as a cross-appointed faculty member and as a member of the Women's Studies Advisory Committee.

Departmental Service

In the Department of Philosophy I have served on a number of committees and served as the Assistant Chair and Director of Undergraduate Studies (1999-2002). I have served on the following committees in the Department of Philosophy: Apointments Committee (1993, 1994, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002), Promotion and Tenure Committee (1994), Ethics and Value Theory Area Committee (graduate program) (1992-present, Chair in 1993, 1997, and 2000-2002), Moral, Political and Legal Philosophy Field Committee (Chair in 2004-05), Committee on Women's Concerns (1992-present, Chair in 1993, 1995, 1997, 2002, and 2004), Chair Selection Committee (1997), Philosophy Club Faculty Representative (1994-96), Graduate Affairs Committee (1993, 1996-), SSA Committee (1994, 1997, 1999), APE Committee (2004-05), Nominating Committee (1994, 1996).

I have also been involved in program development, including The Diploma in Ethics and The Certificate in Ethics.

Faculty and University Service

I was an executive member of Western's Caucus on Women's Issues from 1997 to 2004, and President for two terms, from 2001-2003. In 2003-04 I was Past President. Though no longer active on the executive, I continue to be a member of the Caucus.

At the Faculty level, I have served on the Faculty of Arts Educational Policy Committee (1999-2001), The Arts Research Task Force (1999, 2000), and the Executive Committee (1993, 1997). For the Faculty of Graduate Studies, I was on the SSHRC Doctoral Fellowships Review Committee (2000-2002), have served on an ad hoc Appeals Committee, and chaired defences of doctoral theses.

During the process of implementing the SCAPA undergraduate program reforms, New Academic Choices, I served on the Subcommittee on Undergraduate Program Reform (SUPR).

I have been a member of the University's Honorary Degrees Committee since 2003 and have been active on a number of other University Committees, including the President's Standing Committee on Employment Equity (2001), The President's Standing Committee on the Safety of Women on Campus (1997, 1999), Chair of the PSCEE Subcommittee representing Women (2001), The Animal Use Subcommittee (1997, 1999).
