Positions

Graduate Student Positions

Graduate student positions (M.Sc. or Ph.D. level) are available to start in 2012. Depending on your preference, you will work either on a "method development" project (a theoretical or algorithmic problem which usually involves writing a computer code) or an applied project (such as a computational study of electrides or reaction mechanisms using the Gaussian program). To get an idea of the scope and type of research projects available in the group, see our list of publications.

Students who are interested in theoretical and mathematical aspects of chemistry are especially encouraged to apply. All candidates should have a solid background in calculus and linear algebra. Experience with computer programming is a plus.

Qualified applicants may contact me by e-mail at vstarove@uwo.ca and describe briefly their research interests and background. Note that in order to apply formally, you will need to follow the procedures outlined at the How to Apply web site. The city of London, Ontario provides a comfortable working and living environment. Graduate stipends at Western are competitive.

Short-Term Visitors

Inquiries about summer research opportunities for undergraduate students are welcome at any time. Short-term visits by established scientists may also be supported.
