Value
Definition:
The worth of the documents for reference and research deriving from the information they contain on persons, places, subjects, etc. The only thing that matters is the information that is in them.
Examples:
- Department of Veteran's Affairs Record Group not only would contain high evidential value as to how the department functioned, but high informational value in terms of personnel files and military records of every single soldier that enlisted (or was conscripted) during the First and Second World Wars. Therefore, high informational value, particularly for genealogists.
HBC Archives fur trader's diaries happen to contain daily weather observations. These reports have a high informational value for climatologists interested in understanding past weather patterns.
