Value
Definition:
The inherent worth of a document based upon factors such as age, content, usage, circumstances of creation, signature, or attached seals.
Example:
- Whatever captures and encapsulates the essential nature of the creator is of great value (ie. U.S. Constitution or Canadian Charter of rights). These capture the essential nature of Americans and Canadians, respectively. Another example, in the case of the HBC Archives, would be the Great Charter of 1670 which holds the signature of Charles II.
