Cardinals

Cardinals are probably one of my favourite species of birds as the males display beautiful, bold colours from the Northern Cardinals' bright cherry red to the Indigo Bunting's electric blue. Buntings are the smaller members of the Cardinal family and I personally have not seen them as often as the Northern Cardinal. This is why it was such a special treat when my brother sighted one on our front lawn, pecking away at bird seed on the ground. Perhaps the vibrant colours Cardinals wear are what makes them stand out as one of the best known birds in North America.
