Elements of Classicism

Architectural Elements

The Carnegie library buildings that were built in Ontario in the early 1900's possessed common classicism architectural elements that were predominant in North American architecture in the late nineteenth century.  Classic architectural elements included the classical detailing of pediments and columns in the Doric, Corinthian and Ionic orders.
