My B.A. (U.W.O.,1985), M.A. (U.W.O., 1987), Ph.D. (McGill, 1992), and Post-Doctoral Fellowship (McMaster 1991-93), were in human geography, specifically cultural geography with an urban geography focus. My undergraduate thesis examined the purposes and spatial attributes of various ethnic minority cultural organizations in London, Ontario; my graduate thesis studied land use and social transformations of the inner city core of London, Ontario; and my dissertation investigated the ideology, design and community use of West Edmonton Mall. My post-doctoral study was devoted to issues of control and access over publicly-used, privately-owned urban civic spaces, using Torontos underground network of shopping corridors as a case study.
