Canadian Political Economy

The economics of territory

Political Economy’s subject matter is the regulation of social and natural resources used in the production and distribution of goods and services in society. All modern societies depend on two principal institutions for making such decisions: the state and the market.

Political economy examines how the state and its associated political structures and processes affect the production and distribution of wealth. It also examines how the market generates political conflicts and influences the organization and operation of the state.
