Not everyone has been believing this story about a garage, which actually does exist in the 100 block of East Swensson in Lindsborg, Kansas. (My reputation has been besmirched.)
The story concerns neighbours who lived in the brick house shown to the right of the garage, and in a frame house that is out of the picture to the left and on the corner of the block. The corner house had a nice two-car garage, and things were going fine. But then, the brick house was sold and the new owner noticed that the corner house's garage reached some seven feet onto his property. Discussions ensued. Apparently the corner-house owner offered to buy seven feet of land from the brick-house owner, but the brick-house owner refused his offer (probably on a matter of principle).
Then the corner-house owner made the mistake of leaving town, and the brick-house owner used the occasion to put a chain saw to work. The corner-house owner evidently had quite a surprise when he returned to town, and one can only imagine how hard it was for him to keep his half of the garage standing while trying to build a replacement wall (somehow I rather doubt that the guy with the chainsaw let him step on his property).
[I would give you the name and phone number of the current owner of the brick house (who is far removed from the guy with the chainsaw), but I'm still in the doghouse with him regarding a certain high-school track meet.]
