593a/b    Clinical and Teaching Practice Experience (0.5 credit)

(Completed in local area in order to meet licensure requirements. Available in selected circumstances with approval by Program Director.)

A Plan For Clinical Evaluation is to be negotiated with the Program Director if this option is selected. This activity will be conducted in the student's own practice (if suitable) or in an appropriate alternate clinical teaching site near the student's location (if possible). The methods of determining and assessing the clinical requirements for the student may include the following:

Suggested Specific Methods

  1. Video tape review(s) of actual practice encounters.
  2. Peer reference by family physician colleagues, preferably on faculty, preferably certificated, in his/her own     community.
  3. Practice profile analysis.
  4. On-site practice visit by full-time faculty or appropriate designate (former graduate student in area if available).
  5. Record Review.
    Assessments of clinical teaching by any learners e.g., medical students, nursing student, residents.
  6. A documented agreement between the Director of the program and the student if another method is to be used.
