William, the older brother of Alexander, emigrated to Canada about 1914 and lived in/near Shawinigan Falls, Quebec.
William was married to Mary Elizabeth Paterson and they had 12 children among whom were the following: Hannah who may have died in childhood; Mary (married Carmichael); Helen (married Lang); Robert, born in Glasgow; George Patterson, born in Glasgow, killed in WW1; Isabella (married McCullock); Martha Hamilton (married Andre Tardif); Susie (married Talbot); John; Jean, born in Glasgow, (married Camplong).
