August 2012 - Graduate Positions Filled

We have now filled all available graduate positions in the Heit lab. welcome Ms. Masha Goiko, Mr. Yohan Kim, and Ms. Ekene Azu!


August 2012 - Honours Student Position Available

This year the Heit lab has one position available for a 4th year honours student in either the biochemistry or immunology program.  This position, as well as the project the student will be pursuing, is described in detail in the Available Positions section of this webpage.

July 2012 - Welcome New Graduate Students

The lab is beginning to fill up, with two new graduate students joining the lab - Ms. Masha Goiko and Mr. Yo Han Kim.  One graduate student position remains open.  Intersted apllicantsmust apply directly to the Department of Microbiology & Immunology.  Upon acception, please contact Dr. Heit directly by email to pursue this positions.  Please note that this position must be filled by early August, so if you are thinking of applying, please do so immediatly.


June 2012 - Graduate Student Positions Are Open

We are looking for two new graduate studens to start in the lab this September.  We are looking for students with a strong background in immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology or cell biology interested in pursuing a MSc or PhD degree.  Several projects are available.

January 12, 2012 - Wiki is Up

Our lab's protocol wiki is now up and running.

We are looking for students with a strong background in immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology or cell biology interested in pursuing a masters or PhD degree.  Several projects are available.  If you are interested in joining our dynamic and growing group please send us an email with your curriculum vitae and a summary of any past research experience.  Please note that all prospective students must be pre-approved by the department, so before contacting Dr Heit please ensure you meet our entrance requirements.


October 13, 2011 - First Experiment

This "simple" PCR gel represents a signifigant milestone in the development of the Heit lab - it is the result of our first experiment.  Not only that, but the experiment worked!  Not bad, considering that our lab has only been open for 3 months and 13 days.


July 1, 2011 - We're Officially Open!

Happy Canada day, and welcome to my new lab.  Today is the official opening day of the Phagocyte Function Lab, and is my first official day as faculty here at the University of Western Ontario!
