Welcome to John Jan Drozd's website I am a Mathematics and Statistics Professor at the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business at Fanshawe College and I am a Mathematics Tutor teaching one on one calculus, linear algebra and finite mathematics at the Writing Services Department at the second floor of the Huron University College library. Previously, I was a Research Associate at the xMR Laboratory at the Physics & Astronomy Department of Western University. I worked under the supervision of Professor Blaine Chronik and Senior Research Scientist Dr. William Handler. The focus of my research is simulating and studying Radio Frequency interactions in MRI machines computationally. I completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at The Centre for Functional and Metabolic Mapping at the Medical Imaging Research Laboratories at Robarts Research Institute, under the supervision of Dr. Bartha. I developed and validated new fully automated algorithms and implemented computer software for MRI image processing to detect structural changes in the brain that arise in the early onset of Alzheimer's disease. These included measuring changes over time in total intra-cranial brain volume, atrophy in brain ventricles and the hippocampus and quantifying the development of amyloid plaques. I was also involved in modifying MR spectroscopy software used in measuring metabolytes in brain volumes. I completed my Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from The University Of Western Ontario in the Applied Mathematics Department in 2009. I have received a Postdoctoral Fellowship Award from The Alzheimer Society. Education Doctorate of Philosophy in Theoretical Physics.
