FOODS AND NUTRITION 021 Dr L A Piché Nutrition for Modern Living 2004-2005
COURSE OUTLINE
PURPOSE: To provide a general overview of the basic principles concerned with human nutrition and to develop a better understanding of the facts and myths that surround the subject of FOOD and NUTRITION in contemporary society.
FORMAT: Fourteen (14) hours per week for 6 weeks (May 14 - June 21, 2001). Lectures, typewritten assignments, oral presentations.
TEXT: Sizer, Frances & Whitney, Eleanor. 2003. Nutrition, Concepts and Controversies, 8th ed. West/Wadsworth Publishing Company, Belmont, CA.
CLASSROOM: Room 18, St. James Bldg, Brescia College
CLASS TIME: Monday to Thursday 9:00 am - 12:30 noon

DEPARTMENT POLICY: 1. Assignments are due at the time (within lecture period) and date indicated in the course outline. The mark will be reduced by 20% on assignments submitted within seven (7) days of the due date. Assignments submitted after seven (7) days will not be accepted for marking.
2. There will be no make-up exams for students who miss an exam except with proper documentation to show a confirmed personal illness or a death in her/his immediate family.
3. The professors are only available for questions and individual consultation before and after class. At other times, messages may be left with the department office (432-8353 ext. 28254).
