The first recognizable spotting of Big Foot is accredited to British explorer David Thompson in 1811 when he found what appeared to be oversized human footprints. The search for Big Foot has been ongoing since Thompson's footprints and a mix of evidence has been brought to light including first-hand accounts, videos, and photographic evidence. None of this evidence is enough to conclusively prove the solitary creature's existence.
Over time there have been hundreds of Big Foot sightings and footprints found in the forested areas of Canada and the USA. Along with these spottings, there have been many theories about what Big Foot may be. Some believe that Big Foot may be a leftover relative of the Neanderthals. Others believe that Bigfoot is simply a fable that North America has fallen in love with after all this time.
Evidence for Big Foot has always come under scrutiny but after the infamous Patterson footage from 1967, the scrutiny has left no room for false evidence. It is the most famous footage of Big Foot and similarly to the most famous photograph of the loch ness monster is widely perceived as a hoax.
Regardless of the lack of substantial evidence, Big Foot is still one of the most celebrated cryptids. Inspiring many shows like Alaskan Killer Big Foot, Finding Big Foot, Expedition Big Foot, Sasquatch, Big Foot Captured, and many more. Big Foot has been featured in advertising campaigns for big brands and small towns alike. Not to mention the many films starring Big Foot such as The Big Foot Project, Son of Bigfoot, Big Foot Family, and Bigfoot vs Megalodon. Regardless of his true nature, Big Foot is a star in the eyes of the public and beloved by people across the globe.
