The implementation of ChatGPT in Library
Is it possible to implement ChatGPT in library? Indeed, high-tech products like ChatGPT are very likely to bring new possibilities to libraries. This means better and more efficient technical services, less stress for librarians, and potentially a breakthrough in information management systems for libraries. But at the same time, it comes with a biased response, a lack of emotional communication, and the risk of replacing librarians.
Apart from these, the implementation of GPT still has many obstacles. For example, when citing references, GPT will generate references that look reasonable, but the authors and articles in them may not match. For libraries, references are an important part, and as a professional, such mistakes cannot be tolerated.
In addition to professionalism, GPT also faces the problem of insufficient funds in the library. The use of artificial intelligence will cost a lot of money. For public libraries, the budget problem has always existed but has not been improved very well. Most of the funding needs are for collection management and expansion. At the same time, the salaries of librarians are also an important expense. All of the above are the most important components of the library. If funding issues for all of the above are still at an awkward stage, then AI in libraries becomes a lower priority and less likely to be implemented.
