The Diabetes Doctor

About the Creator

Archit Jain

Archit Jain, an alumina at the University of Western Ontario, graduated with a Bachelor’s of Medical Science, and is now pursuing higher education in the field of medicine. He founded the organization, The Diabetes Doctor, in 2009 when a close friend of his was diagnosed with diabetes, and had a difficult time coping with it. Gradually, it became difficult for Jain to watch his friend feel powerless, as he witnessed him feeling as if he could no longer lead the lifestyle he had always been leading. Seeing how diabetes was destroying his friend’s mental state of mind, Jain wondered just how challenging it would be for other patients, including kids, to come to terms with this condition. This thought encouraged him to take the initiative and start an organization that aimed at helping diabetic patients become more aware of their condition and advise them on how to lead healthy lives. Over the years, he has developed a very trusting relationship with his team, as well as the community members who he interacts with on a regular basis. He hopes to keep building on this professional relationship, and continue to lead a successful organization.

Archit's Interests

Aside from this, Jain enjoys speaking on a public platform, and engaging his audience members in his goals and visions. In his free time, he plays tennis and cricket with his friends and family, and occasionally participates in competitions. Moreover, he loves travelling, and experiencing new culture and food. His goal is to eventually go on a world tour and get a feel of how people across the world go about in their daily lives. In his busy schedule, Jain ensures that he sets aside time for his family and friends, and enjoys spending quality time with them.

Archit's Professional Goals

In the future, Jain aspires to be a cardiologist and directly impactthe lives of heart disease patients. His inspiration in the field of medicine comes from his work directly with The Diabetes Doctor, as well as his interactions with diabetic patients. By taking on this career, he hopes to directly work hands-on with patients to improve their quality of life. He feels very grateful for the support from his close ones who have always encouraged him to accomplish his goals. In the future, he hopes to be able to develop the organization further and increase its outreach to eventually stand on an international stage.
