Instruments relating to monitoring diabetes

Diabetes is a lifelong, chronic disease that can even be fatal in some situations, and can come about either due to body’s inability to produce insulin or the body’s inability to use the insulin that it produces. Insulin is an endocrine hormone that controls the levels of blood sugar or in other words, regulates the amount of glucose that is circulating in the blood. Essentially, insulin’s role is to help the body use sugar as an energy source. There are two main types of diabetes: type 1 and type 2. There is no doubt that being diagnosed with diabetes or having high blood sugar can cause complications, which may even become life threatening. These diabetes- related complications include chronic kidney disease, foot problems, stroke, and erectile dysfunction (in men). Having said that, it is very important to manage and regularly check blood sugar to maintain normal, and healthy levels.
