Readings → A Note on Course Work/Readings
As you can see from the reading list and weekly schedule above, this course has a lot of reading in it. I recognize that this will be difficult to keep up with on top of your busy course load. While you will get the most out of this course by reading all the content, please use whatever means of participation that you can to get through. You can:
- Skim read
- Create a group with other students in the course, where you all read different novels and then share your summaries, thoughts, and learning amongst each other
- If necessary, skip certain novels that you won’t need for your assignment (but ensure you read a synopsis at least and come to class ready to learn)
- Have a conversation with during Office Hours about certain novels that you weren’t able to read in their entirety
You do not need a background in YA literature to take this course. However, I imagine that at least some of you have chosen to take this course because you love reading YA, or loved reading it when you were younger. Hopefully, some of you have read some of these titles already.
